Martin Benno Blumenthal
Benno Blumenthal received his Ph.D. degree in Physical Oceanography from
Institute of Technology/Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in
1987. Arriving at Columbia University soon after, he was a Senior
Staff Associate at LDEO when he became the IRI
Data Library Manager in 1997.
Blumenthal's background is in simplified climate models and climate
predictability, and methods of data/model analysis. His present
interest is in distributing Earth science data for public use, and the
use of semantic technologies to improve that process. He is the
author and maintainer of the IRI/LDEO Climate Data Library, which makes
climate data highly accessible over the World Wide Web (WWW).
